One night I found myself in need of cash after banking hours, so I headed to the ATM. After completing my transaction, I was unable to retract my card from the machine because of my acrylic nails. Much to my dismay, there was no one in sight to help. It was from this experience that the inspiration for the Pretty Nail Tool was born.

My name is Jody Sterling and I’m a 31-year veteran of the cosmetology industry. I’ve also been a devoted consumer of acrylic nails for 33 years, so I understand the challenges that come along with sporting luxurious acrylic or natural manicured nails. Part of my passion lies in creating beauty industry solutions that make life easier for both the professional and the customer.

I designed Pretty Nail Tool to address a common problem for manicure wearers – remaining stylish while avoiding nail damage. For years, people resorted to tweezers, clips, gloves and even the help of strangers to complete simple tasks like retrieving an ATM card or picking an item up off of the ground without ruining their manicure. Pretty Nail Tool eliminates this hassle and empowers users to don their nails with confidence. Nail technicians and clients alike can relax knowing that beautiful nails of all lengths can be worn without concern of chipping or breakage from daily tasks. Pretty Nail Tool is a unique accessory that easily attaches to your key chain to assist with a wide range of tasks including opening cans or bottles, using credit card machines, pushing buttons on elevators and appliances and so much more!

Based in sunny Long Beach, California, Pretty Nail Tool is a Black, woman-owned business. In addition to designing products for the beauty industry, Jody Sterling has owned and operated her own salon for the last 16 years.
